Congratulations! You are thinking about becoming a home owner. Searching for a new home can be exciting but, at the same time, it can be daunting. It doesn’t matter if this is your first home or your tenth, your experience will likely depend on how well prepared you are. The good news is that my clients are among the most prepared in the market. I am available to answer your questions, and walk you through the process.

The first thing you will need to do is to get pre-approved through a lender. This will help you determine how much home you can afford to buy. Looking for a home prior to receiving your pre-approval letter can make your purchase a little more difficult.

If you need help finding a lender please let me know and I will be happy to help you find a lender that will assist you during your loan process.

1. Know your needs. Examine your lifestyle and determine what type of home you are looking for.

2. Location, location, location… A bargain is never really a bargain when located in a bad neighborhood.  It's better to take a chance on a smaller home -- or one in need of repair -- in a great area where the value will only rise.

3. Times of day… You don’t live in your home for an hour every day. Make several trips to your “new” home at different times of the day and night. Make sure that you are happy with the neighborhood, neighbors, and sounds throughout the day and night.

4. Get a professional inspection. You will spend a few hundred dollars on a professional home inspection, but you will enter into the biggest purchase of your life with full disclosure.

5. Get Preapproved. You must be preapproved prior to your home search. If you look first and seek approval later, you run the risk of disappointment.

6. Get it in writing. Nothing is real until it is in writing and signed! With me representing you, I will make sure that all your requests are addressed and in writing. This helps you attain your goals, if you’re buying or selling.
